From October 18 to October 20, 2024, the 11th Qin Chuangyuan - China Stone Association • Jewel Machinery Cup China Postgraduate Energy Equipment Innovation Design Competition (National Class-A Competition) was successfully held in Xi'an Jiaotong University. The contest received positive response and enthusiastic participation from all postgraduate training units across the country, with 1,786 teams from 290 postgraduate training units successfully submitting entries for the contest, including 7,478 postgraduate students and 2,378 instructors. The 434 teams competed through a combination of performance and defense, and 44 first prizes were awarded. Our school has made a historic breakthrough in this competition, successfully won the first prize and broke the school's record in this competition.

Award-winning work: Cloud Window, an independent wide temperature-controlled smart window that can be mass-produced and coupled to thermoelectric power generation. The participating team is a graduate student team (School of Energy and Materials) composed of Xie Guoxiang, Liu Wanxiang, Chen Hongkai, Yu Jiaxue and Wang Yiduo, with Yu Wei as the instructor. This work is a kind of high-efficiency solar heat utilization intelligent window with the functions of heat collection, temperature regulation and power generation, and a new thermochromic hydrogel is designed, whose color change temperature range is 24-33 ℃ adjustable. Such materials have high solar modulation ability (> 81%), excellent light transmittance (> 83%) and low haze value (< 9.87%). The project team proposed two smart windows integration strategies and verified their effectiveness in reducing energy consumption. Practical application tests conducted in Shanghai in the summer show that using smart windows can reduce indoor temperatures by 8-13 ° C. In addition, thermochromic hydrogels combined with thermoelectric hydrogels use waste heat from the glass surface to generate power for small electrical appliances.
