On May 10, the final of the second Shanghai University Student Energy-saving Social Practice and Science & Technology Competition was held in our school. The contest is sponsored by Shanghai Education Committee and Shanghai University Student Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Social Practice and Science and Technology Competition Committee, and organized by Shanghai Second Polytechnic University and Shanghai Engineering Thermophysics Society.

Chen Mu, member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Working Committee of Shanghai Education and Health and first-class inspector of the Municipal Education Commission, Professor Xie Huaqing, President of Shanghai No.2 University of Technology, and Professor He Yan, Vice President of Qingdao University, Professor Wang Qiuwang, Secretary General of the Teaching Steering Committee for Energy and Power Major of Higher Education Institutions under the Ministry of Education and Director of the Academic Affairs Office of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Professor Wu Jingyi, Vice Director of the Academic Affairs Committee of Shanghai Jiaotong University and Dean of the School of Education. Professor Xin Gongming of Shandong University, Professor Qian Zuoqin of Wuhan University of Technology, and Professor Chen Guang of Anhui University of Technology, Member of the Teaching Steering Committee of Energy and Power Major of Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education. And more than 40 experts and professors from more than 30 universities around the country attended the opening and closing ceremonies. More than 400 teachers and students from 25 universities including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University, East China Normal University, Donghua University, East China University of Science and Technology, and Shanghai Second University of Technology participated in the final.

Xie Huaqing delivers a speech at the opening ceremony. He said that energy conservation and emission reduction is an important practice to implement the new development concept and a key support to achieve the dual carbon goal. This event is not only a stage for students to show their wisdom and creativity, but also a practical classroom that resonates with the development of the country. We hope that we will focus on the issue of chucking in the neck, make breakthroughs and innovations with the courage of daring to be the first in the world, and cooperate with each other with the awareness of everyone picking up the fire. We should also practice it with an attitude of never knowing what to do.

In his speech, Wu congratulated the team of teachers and students who had successfully entered the final round. She reviewed the running process of the national college students' social practice and science and technology competition in energy conservation and emission reduction, and pointed out that the holding of the college students' social practice and science and technology competition in energy conservation and emission reduction was a vivid practice on the road of green development in Shanghai. She wished all the competitors to give full play to their professional strengths and show the best creativity and practical results in the coming competitions.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Yuanyuan Wang, President of the School of Energy and Materials of PUMC, and Professor Haiping Xu, Director of the Scientific Research Division, as a representative of the judging experts, read out the rules for the final judging, and Zheng Xue, a representative of the participating students, read out the competition commitment.

Adhering to the principle of focusing on the cutting edge of energy saving and emission reduction and stimulating the vitality of innovation and practice, the competition received 382 entries. The contents of the works cover intelligent energy management system, research and development of new environmental protection materials, exploration of low-carbon living modes, and design of industrial emission reduction schemes. After online review and deliberation by the competition committee, a total of 120 entries were shortlisted for the final, and were divided into 9 groups for defense. After review by groups and deliberation by the competition committee, nine projects of the team of Zhao Jijuan from Donghua University, including Green Dynamic Weaving, Cold and Heat Self Clothing - Smart Temperature-Regulating Fabric Based on Phase Change Microcapsules, won the special prize. Forty-two projects of Zheng Hui's team from East China University of Science and Technology, including Green Xuan along the Silk Road, New Life in Charming - New Process Exploration for Green Synthesis Gas from Biomass, won the first prize. A total of 69 projects, including Photovoltaic Pioneer - a Mobile No Water Cleaning and Smart Operation Photovoltaic Board Based on STM32, won the second prize. Shanghai Electric Power University's Cheng Mingquan Team won the third prize for 71 projects, including Clean Chlorine - Integrated Desulfurization Wastewater Zero Discharge Process for Thermal Power Plants. Twelve units, including Tongji University, Donghua University and Shanghai Institute of Electrical Engineering, won the Excellent Organization Award.

At the closing ceremony, Wang Yuanyuan made a summary report on the competition. Participating experts presented awards to the institutions and the winning teams that won the Excellent Organization Award. Under the leadership of Wang Qiuwang, Chen Yong, Party Secretary of the School of Energy and Materials of Shanghai Second Polytechnic University, as a representative of the organizers of this competition, passed the flag to Dai Yuyin, Secretary of the Youth League of the School of Machinery and Power of Shanghai Jiao Tong University In hand, the handover of the flag will continue the spirit of the competition.

The 2nd Shanghai University Student Social Practice and Science & Technology Competition on Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction came to a successful conclusion in the chorus of Youth with Ideal. The contest is a collision of wisdom and a practical platform for cultivating talents in the field of energy conservation and emission reduction, which not only provides a stage for college students in Shanghai to showcase their talents. It also provides scientific research and practical application for Shanghai universities to continue on the path of green development.
