On May 25, the 7th National University Student Renewable Energy Excellent Science and Technology Competition China Cycling Cup concluded successfully. Wang Hecong, a 24-grade graduate student of the Institute, stood out from many entries by virtue of The Revolution of Ethanol Fuel Cells Driven by Tin-based Palladium Catalyst (instructor: Lin Donghai). Won the second prize of the national championship. In addition, Zhang Jianwei, a 24-level graduate student, won the third prize of the National Competition for his team Color Scale Crystal Film with Photocatalytic Activity and Inverse Opal Photonic Protoplast Membrane (Instructor: Chen Cheng).

Sponsored by the China Renewable Energy Society and named after CRRC, the competition aims to respond to the country's strategic goal of dual carbon and advance the revolution in energy production and consumption. We will build a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system, guide university students / graduate students to combine their passion for innovation with the country's major strategic needs, and promote technological innovation and reform in the field of renewable energy in China.

Since its launch in 2024, the competition has attracted 2013 entries submitted by 305 universities across the country, 1615 of which have entered the preliminary professional assessment, and 614 entries have been selected for the third prize or above, of which 289 have been promoted to the final. The scale of participation reached an all-time high. Closely following the theme of Developing Green Energy and Building a Beautiful China, the competition was divided into scientific and technological works and social practice survey reports. Among them, scientific and technological works cover physical production (including models), experiments, software and design, and social practice investigation reports include social practice investigation reports and industry analysis reports. Fully reflect new ideas, new principles, new methods or new technologies.

In recent years, the Institute will continue to deepen the reform of promoting teaching by competition and promoting innovation by competition, focus on building a dual-teacher tutor team, and innovatively implement the mode of project-based results transformation by building the collaborative education mechanism of production, learning and research competitions.
