Recently, the project of Development of Low Energy Polymer Microfiltration Membrane and Its System jointly applied by our school and Shanghai Hongli Purification Technology Co., Ltd. won the first prize of Science and Technology Award of China Membrane Industry Association in 2025. Amr Prof. Wu Zihua and its partner, Chairman Song Zili, were invited to the Tibet Building in Beijing to attend the awarding ceremony and present their achievements. The completion of this study marks a revolutionary breakthrough in the treatment of industrial wastewater in China, and also shows the achievements of the cooperation between the Institute and the enterprises.

The polymer microfiltration membrane with excellent performance developed by the project can not only realize high-precision filtration up to 0.1 micron level, but also significantly reduce the filtration pressure difference and reduce the energy consumption of industrial waste water treatment by 79% compared with the traditional technology. Full process automation is also achieved. Meanwhile, the project also innovatively developed the solar microfiltration membrane system to further reduce energy consumption and improve the overall energy efficiency of the system.
In the future, this system will be widely used in chemical, pharmaceutical, environmental protection and other industries, effectively improving the treatment efficiency of industrial wastewater in China and not only reducing the operation cost of enterprises. It can also help China realize green and sustainable development.
